Another very hot Sydney morning - although as we were about to discover, we hadn't seen anything yet!! We packed up all our things and said goodbye to our Ruthven Street abode before joining Lise and Alice and their families for brunch in Woollhara.
A delicious meal was had by all and some more farewells were made.
Lise, Alice and Nush have been friends for over 25 years and very rarely get to spend time together these days so there were photos and hugs for a while!!
Around lunchtime, Lise drove us to the airport and we boarded our rather bumpy flight to Melbourne. It was only an hour and a half journey and by the time we'd taken off and had a drink it was already time to land again! Not very impressive given the flights we've taken so far this trip! Uncle Jack was there to greet us the other end and it was great to see him again.
We walked out of the airport and it was like entering a sauna just after someone has thrown more water onto the coals. The thermometer read a balmy 44 degrees, hotter than any of us could remember experiencing!! We were relieved to hop into Jack's cool, air conditioned car.
As we neared the CBD everything became really familiar. The kids are already bored of our reminiscing as we remember the places where we stayed, worked and played when we lived in Melbourne some 13 years ago!
Granny and Popps were waiting outside Auntie Anna and Uncle Jack's house and there was a very excited reunion! They've already been in Australia for 10 days, they went on holiday in South Australia with Auntie Norma and Uncle David so were able to fill us in on everything we needed to know.
The kids were barely through the door before they'd stripped off and jumped into the pool for some cool relief!
By the evening the temperature had dropped by about 10 degrees and after a delicious dinner we sat out chatting by the pool for a while, enjoying the beautiful garden and the warm summer night.
What a great experience for the children. I bet they were delighted to see Granny and Pops!
